I am relaxing in Vegas right now with the family. It was time to relocate our daughter to the Vegas area. Since the relocation brought us to Vegas for the first time, we might as well check out the city. It is an amazing city that never sleeps. There seems always something you can do. I sure did like the older part of the strip the best. Spending an evening roaming Freemont Street was very cool. I also took the time to program in a few of the area repeaters in to my FT60. Maybe I will monitor and make a few contacts. Time to fly back home is coming in a quick few days. 73s all.
June Update
Well my friends… This has been another great month. I interviewed for a promotion at work, received some great cigars and a smoker from my family for fathers day, and started geo-caching again. Life is good.
Time For An Update
Another crazy month is here. So many things have happened this past month. And many things planned for this month too. Just a few things. Yard has been redone, radio room cleaned, new HD web cam in place, and most important, our daughter graduated from college. Next month comes the chore of putting a new roof on the house. We will be doing a complete tear off and a new shingle roof on.
What A Week
This week has been an interesting week. I was able to get a few chores done and get some time for HF. But… I did spend some time fixing the shingles that the darn raccoon tore up on the roof. I also took some time and passed my state CDL license exam. So maybe in the future my HF and 2M mobile operations will be in a semi.
My “New” HT Has Arrived
I have been trying to get a hold of a used HT1000 without paying too much money for it. Well today I found one for trade. I traded off my HTX10 and a 10 meter dipole for the HT1000. I use to use this radio during my time as a military firefighter. The radio has a nice warm, remember me, feeling in my hand. Thanks Nate for a good trade.
New APRS Application
Thanks to my friend John, KB2HSH, I found an APRS application called APRS CE that works on my Palm Treo 800W. I am going to give it a try. You will be able to track me right here as KC9GWK-12.
New Rx Feed
I have been using radioreference.com for about a year now. They are a great frequency database site for public service, military, government, etc. So today I am paying back to the listener world. I now have my local sheriff’s department dispatch and car to car, fed live to listeners. A whole list of live feeds is right here: Radio Reference audio feeds. To listen to mine go to Wisconsin and then to Kenosha County. I am going to watch usage and see how it goes.
73’s to you all.
ROS monitoring
While my station is not being used by me or Global Tuners, I am going to leave ROS up and listening. With the auto email function, ops will “see” that their signal reached me here in EN52wm. Not too sure how long I will do this.
New mode and web site updates
It really has been a fun week with amateur radio. I heard about a new digital mode called ROS. My friend has given it a try and likes it a lot. I will give it a try when the update allows for a SignaLink interface to work.
I was able to enjoy two QSOs with KB2HSH on 40 meters using FeldHell and Olivia. My first time using those two modes. Thanks John.
And I spent some time today, updating the portal with my APRS positions and my shack web cam. The shack cam is an experiment. I may keep it up and running. I have a really cool “HD” web cam coming in a week or two. That new cam I expect will give me some great images of the shack.
73s to you all.
New Ham Shack
Folks,

I was able to move indoors now. We ended up having some room in one of our lower level bedrooms. Now I am set up and operating. I am also ready for winter now. No more cold nights in the garage.
